We are very excited to announce our winners for the local heat of the Rotary Young Photographer competition held at Dartmouth Academy this year.

A special thanks goes to Ginny Campbell, our Judge this year, she had a busy, but enjoyable time going though all the photos and judging based on three sets of judging criteria. Technical merit, content and composition and imagination and style based on the theme this year being ‘The Beauty of Nature’. Entries are judged as a set of three (a portfolio) so each photo contributes one third to an entrant’s total score in judging.

Winners from each age group of the club competition can then go forwards to the district competition and thusly those winners can go forwards to the RIBI (Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland) national competition.

The winners of each age group in the District 1175 Young Photographer competition will be invited to attend a photographic workshop with Ross Hoddinott in North Cornwall on Friday 15th March 2019 from 12:00 noon to dusk.  This date is fixed and the prize is not transferable.  If the winners are unable to attend then the runners-up will be invited in their place.

Ross will provide one-to-one tuition to the young photographers, with additional support being provided by Peter and Caroline Bland of Silverlake Photography.  This will be a fantastic experience!

Thank you to all the entrants this year for taking part, you all did very well and the Dartmouth Rotary Club hope you keep up your hobby of photography and thanks to Dartmouth Academy for hosting the event and to Ginny Cambell for the judging of the competition and her very helpful synopsis of each winning entry.
